Baked Beans for a Crowd

For anyone who has a guilty love affair with a can of baked beans now and then, this recipe makes baked beans seem decadent, almost fancy! And they are easy to make. Carolyn OLIVER IREY FRASER is responsible for this…and you are likely to have tried it if you ever encountered her at a pot luck.

1 can garbanzo beans
1 can baby lima beans
1 can butter beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can pork ‘n’ beans (do not drain)
1 pound bacon
2 onions, chopped
1 cup catsup
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar

In skillet, chop and brown bacon. Remove.
In bacon drippings, saute onions. Remove with slotted spoon.
Mix beans, bacon and onions together in a baking dish. Add catsup and sugars. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, covered lightly with foil so it doesn’t dry out.
