This recipe came from Evelyn Anne STONE and is a special treat around the holidays. Make extra and share with friends and family.
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter
40 saltine crackers
1 12 oz. package chocolate chips (milk or semi-sweet)
chopped nuts – chef’s choice, pecans, peanuts or walnuts
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cover a cookie sheet with foil.
Line pan with 40 saltines in a single layer.
In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar. Bring to a full boil and cook 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and pour over crackers.
Bake for 5 minutes.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Leave out until melted and then sprinkle with nuts.
Refrigerate 4 hours.
Break into pieces and store in airtight container.
